Sumo Contest

We’re having a Sumo contest this Saturday. The Jujutsukas from the summer program will be trying to toss each other off the mat! We may even have some guest participants from our sister schools in Chicago!

The Healing Place, 513 w 87th st. Naperville, il 60565. If it’s nice out, we’ll be in the park directly across the street.

A note from a father.

I just wanted to share a great email from one of the dads. His son has been participating in the Ju Jutsu class for about six weeks.

Hey Jeremy,

Thanks a lot for your Ju Jutsu program. You do a great job of working the kids hard but they don’t even notice. They are too busy having fun. They don’t get bored either – they’re always engaged doing something challenging but doable. That makes them feel competent. He always feels like he did a good job in class and learned something.

He’s also in Tae Kwon Do, but it’s not the same. The class is too big, and the teacher isn’t really engaging. Unlike your class, kids get bored and often don’t pay attention – there’s a huge difference.

For anyone that missed the demo on Saturday: If you’d like to see firsthand what our program is all about, feel free to come by on Wednesdays at 4pm and observe a class. We practice at The healing Place, 513 w 87th st, (the intersection of w 87th and Modaff) Naperville, IL 60565. If the sun is shining, you can find us across the street in the park!

The last Wednesday 4pm class is June 9th, and then we begin the summer program.

Thanks everyone for coming to the open house today! Devan and Gavin did an awesome job with the demo. They showed some of the skills and techniques they’ve been working on including rolls, escapes, getting back to your feet, randori* and everybody’s favorite: How to get out of a Headlock!

*Randori is the grappling we do. It is a chance for the students to spontaneously practice the skills with a partner.

Open House May 22

We are excited to have an open house Saturday May 22 at The Healing Place. (w. 87th and Modaff, Naperville 60565). There will be great food, original artwork, drumming, free chair massage, great food, and of course, a Ju Jutsu Demonstration. The Demo is at 10:30am, so if you’d like to see first hand what some of the current students are working on, please come on by!
